Fastforwarding Rewired - BIG, QE and Foreign Loans

So the supplementary budget has come and gone, and huge questions remain unanswered about future financing of our national spending, and in fact if we are at all clear as to the linkages between supply and demand as we proceed each day, as indeed we must. Right now it feels as if there is a deafening amount of noise, leading to a shut down of capacity to reflect and reason, and then act.

What I do have to offer however in this layered madness are select niche conversations that I host with Duma Gqubule, just launched, called REWIRED.

In our first Podcast we talk to Ravi Naidoo, formerly of COSATU's thinking house NALEDI, DBSA and more recently private finance. We talk about the realpolitik behind the adoption of a Basic Income Grant in South Africa.

In our second episode we will talk to Owen Wilcox. formerly of National Treasury, about all things monetary, sexy topics like QE, sober thinking about international loans, and listen as he warns that we will not recover as quickly as we must if Government does NOT massively increase spending.

Once you have listened to these and come up to breathe, we will have Episode Three in the can, reflections from not so distant leaders on how past decisions can be REWIRED
